Summer Music Boot Camps

During the summer, groups of musicians are introduced to each other on Monday. By Friday they are expected to put on a live show as a coherent, polished group.

They choose their songs, assign roles, learn their parts, set up their equipment, and perform on stage in front of an audience - all in five days. Sometimes students have to learn a whole new instrument or how to harmonize background vocals to help their team pull off a song. They learn cooperation and teamwork on a whole new level.

How camps work:

Summer boot camps run from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Thursday, then Friday is an endurance day: the group meets at 9:30 am as usual to work on their songs, then they perform at 1:00 pm outdoors at the Farmer's Market. After they haul all their equipment back to the studio, they take a supper break from roughly 4pm to 6pm, then have to be back at Smith Music ready to perform at 6:30 pm.

Dates are July 16-20, 2018 and July 23-27, 2018.
